The Mixed Method

Of the many methods developed, for IISA Assessment, Consultancy & Research Centre, the mixed method occupies a leading priority. The mixed method is a method that combines qualitative and quantitative research approaches. This type of research involves the use of dual concept, in which you are not only answering the research question, but also going wider to more relevant research methods.

Our challenge is how to integrate findings from a methodological approach—qualitative or quantitative—relevantly and coherently, such as:

  • What to consider before making mixed method designs?
  • What kind of design used to conduct mixed method researches?
  • What are available options to integrate the findings?
  • What are the available channels to disseminate the results of studies with mixed method?

However, instead of using quantitative or qualitative method alone, mixed method answer more to your needs, since the strengths of this method are:

  1. More comprehensive. The main strength of mixed method research is to reduce the weaknesses of either fully quantitative or fully qualitative research methodology, so that researches using mixed method are more comprehensive.
  2. More accurate. The use of some research approaches in mixed method helps ensuring more accurate results. A mixed research works through complementary results obtained from one type of research to other research methods. As a result, the mixed research method rarely misses accessed data.
  3. Saving time: Both quantitative and qualitative data are collected simultaneously and it saves time and cost at once. There are various designs in the mixed method research which we can use to save time. However, the designs that we offer to be selected mainly depend on the purpose of the researches. In addition, we need clarity in identifying the dominant approach in mixed method research.
  4. Welcoming the progress of technology. Advances in technology make the researches with the mixed method are simpler. There are various computer programs that can be used to help analyzing quantitative data and qualitative data. This allows our data analysts to analyze a really cohesive data, so as to achieve high data accuracy.
